Electrical Depth Summary

My electrical intent is to incorporate a generator into the electrical design of my facility. This will include choosing a location for the equipment, analyzing how it will connect with the existing systems, and sizing the generator. Additionally, I want to integrate control systems for the lighting and electrical components of this facility. This will allow the owner to have further control over the facility which will help to control costs for the owner and should save energy for the facility.

Lighting Depth Summary

My intent is to reflect the users experience in the facility through the lighting design. I have summarized the user’s fitness and wellness journeys with the word dynamic. The word dynamic describes a process characterized by constant change, activity, or progress. This definition can also be used to describe a fitness and wellness journey despite shape, size, age, or progress. I plan to use this common characteristic to provide motivation and encouragement through the lighting design of this facility.

Acoustical Breadth

This acoustical breadth will be focused around the child care center in the Health & Wellness Center. This space is located in the center of the building and neighbors the lobby. My lighting design for the child care space is being designed to encourage the kids to be moving in the space and therefore I anticipate excess noise coming from this area. I would like to study the existing acoustics in and around the space and implement additional materials and components to keep the sounds within the child care space. This would also include taking reverberation times in the existing space and assessing the current materials in the space. Additionally, I would like to account for the sound transmission to adjacent spaces through the walls and mechanical systems.

Mechanical Breadth

This mechanical breadth will focus on changing the glass type of the existing curtain wall systems in my building. This would mostly be focusing on the aquatics area and the lobby. I believe that changing the glass type to let in less light would enhance my electric lighting design and would lead me to study the need for adjusting light levels accordingly. This would also change the amount of heat entering the spaces. I will then assess heat gain and heat loss from these changes and determine these impacts. This could also lead to the investigation of additional heating or cooling support for the facility.
